Privacy Policy

Clever Taxes Elite ("we", "us" or "our") is a CPA firm in Edgewater, New Jersey, providing tax planning and tax preparation. This policy explains what we collect through clevertaxeselite.com (the "Site") and through enquiries you send us by email or phone, what we do with it, who receives it, and how to have it removed.
It does not cover the records of clients. Once you sign an engagement letter, your tax information is governed by that letter and by the federal rules that apply to tax preparers, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and Section 7216 of the Internal Revenue Code, which restricts how a preparer may use or disclose return information.
The short version. The Site collects only what you type into the contact form. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising trackers, and does not sell or share your information for advertising. You can ask us to delete what you sent at any time.
1. Personal information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact data
- Your name, your email address, and your phone number if you choose to give it. The phone field is optional.
- Communications data
- What you write in the message box, and anything you send us later by email, by phone, or through a message on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn.
The form deliberately does not ask for a Social Security number, figures from a return, or a document upload, and there is no field on the Site where you could enter one. Please do not put that kind of information in the message box.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs
- Like every web server, the company that hosts the Site keeps short-lived request logs. They record your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We do not use them to identify visitors.
- Form delivery data
- When you send the form, the service that relays it receives the same kind of technical details about the request, such as your IP address, in order to deliver it and filter spam. The form also notes, without storing anything on your device, whether it was filled in unusually fast; we use that only to spot automated spam.
Information from other sources
If you leave a Google review or contact us through a social network, we receive what you choose to share there, under that platform's own privacy policy. We do not buy personal information, and we do not combine what you send us with data from anywhere else.
2. Cookies and tracking
- No cookies
- The Site sets no cookies of its own, and no third party sets one through it. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
- No tracking or advertising
- No analytics, no advertising pixels, no remarketing tags, no session recording, no heatmaps, no social media trackers. The font is served from our own host, not from Google.
- The map does not load until you ask it to
- What you see first is a flat image. It contacts Google not at all. If you press "Drag and zoom the map", a Google Maps frame loads at that point, and Google may then set its own cookies and see your IP address, under Google's policy rather than ours. That is your choice to make, which is why it is behind a button. The "Get directions" link works the same way: it only reaches Google once you click it.
- Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
- Because the Site does no tracking and no selling, there is nothing for these browser signals to switch off. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request not to sell or share your information, which we already do not do.
3. How we use your personal information
We use what you send us to:
- reply to your enquiry and arrange the call you asked for;
- keep a record of the conversation, so that whoever picks it up knows what was said;
- keep the Site and the form working and free of spam and abuse;
- comply with the law and with lawful requests from authorities, and establish or defend legal claims.
We never use what you send us for marketing: no mailing lists, no newsletters, no marketing emails. We do not use your information to build a profile of you, to make automated decisions about you, or to train AI models.
4. Who receives your personal information
These parties, and no others:
- Clever Taxes Elite
- The firm itself. This is where your message lands and who replies to it.
- Web3Forms
- A form-relay service. It receives the submission and forwards it to our inbox. It handles the message to deliver it, and for no purpose of its own.
- Netlify
- The hosting provider. It serves the pages and keeps the server logs described above.
- Our email is hosted by Google (Gmail), so every enquiry and email reply is stored on Google's servers.
- Professional advisers
- Our own lawyers, insurers and accountants, if they need it to advise us, under a duty of confidentiality.
- Authorities, when the law requires it
- Courts, regulators or law enforcement, if we are legally required to disclose information, or need to in order to protect our rights or someone's safety.
- A successor to the firm
- If the practice is ever sold or merged, enquiries may pass to the firm that takes it over, which must treat them in line with this policy. Client tax records are different: they move only as the law on return information allows.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. This has been true for the past twelve months and remains true.
5. How long we keep it
We keep an enquiry only as long as we need it to reply to you and keep a record of the conversation. After that, enquiries that do not become engagements are deleted. If you ask us to delete yours sooner, we do. Server logs are kept by Netlify and form delivery records by Web3Forms for the periods set by those providers.
If you became a client, tax records are subject to retention rules that override a deletion request. Those rules are not ours to waive. This applies only to engagement records, never to an enquiry that went nowhere.
6. Security
The Site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to our inbox is limited to the people who need it. No system connected to the internet is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us over the internet. That is why the form is not the place for sensitive tax information.
7. Your rights and choices
Whichever state you live in, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you, where it came from, why we have it, and who we have given it to;
- give you a copy of it, in a format you can reuse;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it.
Email clevertaxes@gmail.com or call +1 (201) 648-5015. We will reply within 30 days. To make sure we are giving information to the right person, we will usually reply to the email address you originally wrote from, and we may ask a question or two to confirm it is you. We will never ask for a Social Security number to do this.
You can ask someone else to make a request for you. We may then ask for written proof that they are authorised to act for you.
If we turn a request down, we will tell you why. You can appeal by replying to that email with "Appeal" in the subject line; we will answer the appeal within 45 days. If you are still unhappy, you can contact your state attorney general.
Exercising any of these rights costs nothing and will not change how we treat you.
8. Notices for residents of certain states
Several states, including New Jersey, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Virginia and Texas, give their residents privacy rights against businesses that meet certain thresholds. We offer the rights in section 7 to everyone, whether or not a particular law applies to a firm of our size, and we do not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or use it for profiling, so the opt-outs those laws provide have nothing to act on.
Categories of personal information, in the terms used by California law
- Identifiers (name, email address, phone number, IP address)
- Collected from you and from your device. Used to reply to you, run the Site, prevent spam and comply with the law. Disclosed to Web3Forms, Netlify and Google as described in section 4. Not sold or shared.
- Internet or network activity (server log entries)
- Collected from your device. Used to run and secure the Site. Disclosed to Netlify. Not sold or shared.
- Other information you choose to write in the message box
- Collected from you. Used to reply to you. Disclosed to Web3Forms and Google. Not sold or shared.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through the Site.
California "Shine the Light". We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.
Nevada. We do not sell personal information. If you are a Nevada resident and would like to record a request not to sell any in future, email us.
9. Children
The Site is aimed at adults dealing with their own tax affairs and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us something, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Other sites
The Site links to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Maps. Those links are not an endorsement, and we do not control what those services collect. Their own privacy policies apply once you follow a link.
11. Where your information is held
We are based in the United States, and we choose service providers that process information in the United States. Some may also use facilities in other countries, under their own safeguards.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change is significant, we will say so at the top of this page. A change applies to information we collect after it is posted.
